Term 1, Week 9

EASTER ACTIVITIES
By Kupa Rose

On Spy Wednesday we made hot cross buns, easter bunnies and art.

But first the hot cross buns were fun to make. We had 2 bread makers with us.  We were split up into two groups and one got to do the hot cross buns and the other art. We formed into a circle. Everyone got to do one thing. I got to do two teaspoons of salt. Then Mrs Clark passed around spices like clove, vanilla essence and cinnamon and smelt them. Mrs Clark told us to not sniff the cinnamon hard. The vanilla essence smelt like bubble gum. Then we put all of the ingredients in the bread maker and turned it on.

Meanwhile the other group was making baskets and bunnies with glasses. The basket was your everyday easter basket, where we got to colour in the sides and fold into a basket. That's where we put our hot cross buns. The bunnies with glasses art was fun because we had to color in anything we wanted. I thought we had to color the bunny in black but we didn’t. The glasses, we cut them out and colored them in and could cut out the lens. We put them up on the wall.

In the middle of that we made bunnies out of socks. We brought old socks. We filled the bottom with rice and the rest with super soft stuffing from a pillow. Then we pinched the middle to tie a head with some string. Then we tied the top for some ears. We cut down the middle for some big floppy ears, grabbed a marker and drew a face on the head. Then we’re done. You can flip it, bounce it, but don’t sit on it!

Yesterday we had a fun easter day. It was all about easter. We made rabbits and we drew heaps of stuff like  rabbits with shades and easter bunny's egg. We also made a treat and we made…. Hot cross buns! At the end of the day we went home with baskets with hot cross buns inside of the basket. By Konnar Melvin

Term 1, week 7

This week we have been doing art. All you will need is some yellow, red, and blue paint and a piece of paper and a brush. Then you pick up your brush and use some yellow paint and make 1 yellow line in the middle of your paper. Then you will use a little bit of yellow and a little bit of red and paint across the paper but go up. Then we got yellow and a little bit of blue and painted across the page and kept painting just below. After the paint dries up you have to draw on black paper some buildings then cut it out and glue your buildings in the middle of the paper. Then get a vivid and draw some lines underneath the buildings so it looks like the buildings are reflecting on the water. By Levi

Term 1, Week 6

Mrs McDougall has been teaching Room 9 about 2D and 3D shapes. The children made these 3D shapes by following instructions on cards and using toothpicks and playdough. It was a lot of fun.
